Strada
I’m very pleased to announce that Strada Shoes will be hosting the traveling exhibit “Local Focus” for the coming year. Strada provides such a colorful and complementary backdrop for these images. If you are stopping by for a new pair of shoes, look upwards. And if you are swinging in just to see miniature photos, you’ll be drooling over the incredible and beautiful selection of shoes beneath.
This light-hearted series honors our local heroes – the Valley’s talented farmers, chefs, bakers, brewers, vintners and frozen treat makers. Their work does not typically appear in galleries, but on our plates, in our glasses, and in our bellies. To showcase their artistry, I have photographed their local specialties paired with miniature figurines.
My approach is minimalist, playing with depth of field as opposed to elaborate scenes. By momentarily distorting our perspectives of space and place, miniatures allow us to view the subject matter with which they are paired…in a different light. And they engage our childlike sense of wonder. In that respect, I hope you have as much fun viewing these images, as I had making them.
